Liverpool FC in Sydney with Alcatel

Alcatel was recently announced as the official partner of the ‘Reds’ in Australia and New Zealand. The package with Liverpool FC involves promotions, access to merchandise, ‘money can’t buy’ experiences and first right of refusal to sponsor games that Liverpool play in Australia.

At the recent Liverpool versus Sydney FC fixture (ANZ Stadium), Alcatel we’re looking to leverage their new sponsorship arrangement and gain additional exposure for their brand amongst fans. Incorporating the SportSim soccer simulator in to their pre-match fan engagement activity proved to be an enormous success.

Positioned on the ANZ Stadium concourse just metres from where the Liverpool stars would soon ply their trade, the soccer simulator was non-stop for 3 hours. Running a penalty competition, plucky punters turned up for their shot at glory. On offer was signed merchandise, the ultimate prize being a Liverpool shirt, signed by John Barnes or Ian Rush….2 Liverpool legends.

Taking advantage of the in-game billboard branding, the Alcatel name was on display all night. Over 150 fans took on the soccer simulator challenge, with hundreds more stopping to watch before heading in to the ground.
